Interim Superintendent

Mr. Al Gegenheimer

Mr. Al Gegenheimer is new to Nettle Creek this year; but he is not new to working with students.  Mr. Gegenheimer is a retired teacher/administrator with nearly 40 years of coaching and teaching experience.  His life-long passion has been dedicated to helping children succeed.

Mr. Gegenheimer spent most of his teaching career in Channahon where he taught junior high science and coached football (MCHS 111), wrestling, and track.  He continued his administrative career in Channahon, serving as Channahon Jr. High School Principal, District Business Manager, Transportation Director, and Curriculum Coordinator.  He later served as Assistant Superintendent for Business at Troy CCSD 30C and Superintendent of schools at Union School District 81, Laraway CCSD 70C, and Minooka CCSD 201.

Mr. Gegenheimer lives in rural Minooka and still teaches graduate students at the University of St. Francis.  He is looking forward to working with students, parents, and community members.  "We work best when we work together!"

Mrs. Marissa Darlington

Mrs. Marissa Darlington has been working at Nettle Creek since 2006.  She completed her teaching degree at Northern Illinois University and her Masters in Administration from Governors State University.  She taught Kindergarten at Morris 54 and at Lincoln Elementary in Plainfield, IL before coming to Nettle Creek.  She has taught kindergarten in the district before becoming the principal in 2017.  She enjoys spending time with her family when she is not at Nettle Creek.  She feels extremely fortunate to work in her hometown and to lead a school district that is so student-centered and family-oriented. If there is anything she can do to make your child's experience more meaningful, please do not hesitate to contact her.
